Senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Saturday strongly condemned the blast near Cantt station in Karachi that resulted in the loss of precious lives. PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Vice Chairman PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi, President Javed Hashmi, Secretary-General Dr Arif Alvi and Information Secretary Shafqat Mahmood said the Party condemns all acts of violence targeting innocent people and it is very unfortunate that extremists are targeting civilians including women and children.

"PTI condemns these groups using violence as a weapon to achieve their evil ends. The Party expects a thorough investigation in response to this heinous crime and calls for government action against this kind of barbarism, and warned, if left unchecked, this menace can imperil the country. Until the society stops the culture of protecting and patronising the groups spreading hatred, we will not be able to end this kind of violence in Pakistan," they added.

According to them, there is a need to address weaknesses in the system of law enforcement. Once voted into power PTI will ensure that law and order is restored in the country and special attention is paid to creating harmony in the country. The state's capacity to manage policing and public prosecution in an effective way is a key issue. Political actors and the state are more interested in political mileage rather than curbing the killings. The dangerous upsurge of violence in recent months warrants urgent and effective measures before it turns into a full-blown conflict. It is time for us to face the reality and, instead of blaming others for our problems, admit that many of these problems stem from our government's inaction.
